McDonnell Douglas MD-88

The MD-88 is the MD-80 series model that Boeing's planning manual groups with the MD-82: the two share their size, 147 ft 10 in long with a 107 ft 10 in wingspan, a maximum take-off weight of 149,500 pounds and 22,129 liters of usable fuel. The planning charts show both with Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217 or JT8D-217A engines, and the type is certified for up to 172 passengers. Like the rest of the series it has a T-tail and two engines on the rear fuselage, and Boeing's planning drawings show an 11-foot-wide fuselage. A few still fly in US airspace.
