AAdvantage Mile Earn Rates
All non-Basic Economy fares earn 5 base miles per dollar of ticket price (before taxes and fees). Elite status members earn a percentage bonus on top of base miles. Card bonuses are additional miles per dollar.

Citi AAdvantage Credit Card Bonuses
Citi AAdvantage cardholders earn additional miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases. These bonus miles are added on top of your base + status earn rate.

AAdvantage Status Qualification
Earn Loyalty Points on American Airlines and partner flights to qualify for AAdvantage elite status. Loyalty Points are earned 1:1 with eligible AAdvantage miles (base + status bonus + card bonus).

Good to Know
- Miles are earned on the ticket price excluding government-imposed taxes and fees.
- Basic Economy fares purchased on or after December 17, 2025 do not earn any AAdvantage miles or Loyalty Points.
- Status bonus miles are calculated as a percentage of base miles (not fare paid). For example, Gold earns 5 base + 40% bonus = 7 total miles per dollar.
- Citi AAdvantage card bonuses stack on top of base + status miles. An Executive Platinum with an Executive Card earns 15 mi/$ (5 base + 6 status + 4 card).
- Loyalty Points are earned 1:1 with all eligible AAdvantage miles, including status bonus and card bonus miles.
- Upgrades, seat purchases, and bag fees do not earn additional miles.
