MileagePlus Mile Earn Rates
Total miles earned per dollar on eligible United flights (effective April 2, 2026). Miles are earned on the base fare before taxes and fees. Maximum 75,000 miles per ticket.

Basic Economy Earn Rates
Basic Economy and JetBlue Blue Basic fares earn at reduced rates. General members without a United card earn no miles on Basic Economy.

Premier Status Qualification
Earn PQP and PQF on United and United Express flights to qualify for Premier status. You must fly a minimum of 4 flights on United or United Express.

How PQP Is Earned
- United & United Express flights: 1 PQP per $1 of base fare (before taxes and fees)
- Preferred partner airlines: 1 PQP per 5 award miles (max 750 PQP Economy, 1,500 PQP Business/First)
- MileagePlus partner flights: 1 PQP per 6 award miles (max 500 PQP Economy, 1,000 PQP Business/First)
- Award flights: 1 PQP per 100 miles redeemed on United/United Express
- Economy Plus & preferred seating: 1 PQP per $1 spent (excluding taxes and fees)
- United credit cards: Varies by card (up to 18,000 PQP annually)
Cardmember Award Savings
Eligible United Cardmembers save on award flights booked with miles on United and United Express:
- Cardmembers without Premier status: At least 10% savings on award flights
- Cardmembers with Premier status: At least 15% savings on award flights
Valid on United or United Express award flights only. Does not apply to Money + Miles tickets.
Good to Know
- Miles are earned on the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges. Taxes and government fees do not earn miles.
- Each traveler earns based on their own Premier and Cardmember status, not the person who booked.
- Cardmembers earn at the Cardmember rate just for having a United card. Paying with the card earns even more.
- Members with multiple United cards receive the standard Cardmember rate. The card-specific bonus is based on which card is used to pay.
- Only primary Cardmembers earn at the Cardmember rate (not authorized users).
- Cardmembers can share their earn rate with up to 8 children under 18 by linking MileagePlus accounts.
- Effective for tickets issued on or after April 2, 2026.
