The C-130 Hercules is a four-engine, high-wing turboprop transport built to the Air Force's 1951 specification and still in production. It works from short, rough strips, airdrops troops and loads of up to 42,000 pounds, and has been adapted to carry cargo and patients, resupply Antarctica, track weather, spray, fight fires and relieve disasters. The C-130A was first delivered in 1956, followed by the B, E and H, and today's C-130J Super Hercules. This site lists two versions: the C-130H, with Allison T56 engines, and the C-130J, with Rolls-Royce AE2100 engines and six-bladed propellers.
