Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules

The C-130J Super Hercules has four Rolls-Royce AE2100D3 turboprops of 4,700 horsepower driving six-bladed composite propellers, a two-pilot digital flight deck and a crew of three. The Air Force says it climbs faster and higher, flies farther at a higher cruise speed and lands in a shorter distance than older models. It carries at most 42,000 pounds, and at its normal payload of 34,000 pounds flies about 1,800 nautical miles. The stretched C-130J-30 adds 15 feet of fuselage; this page gives the standard length. It entered Air Force service in February 1999. The Marine Corps flies the KC-130J tanker version.
