McDonnell Douglas MD-11
The passenger MD-11 carried about 50 more people than the DC-10 it grew from. Boeing's history gives its seating as 285 in three classes up to 410 in an all-economy cabin, the most Boeing's planning data allows. Three engines power it, one under each wing and one in the tail, either General Electric CF6-80C2D1F or Pratt & Whitney PW4460 or PW4462 turbofans. With the heaviest weight option it could take off at 285,988 kg, and its tanks held 146,173 liters of usable fuel. The FAA certified it in November 1990.

History
The MD-11 was McDonnell Douglas's larger and more efficient development of the DC-10 trijet. After its first flight in January 1990 and certification that November, deliveries began in 1991, and by January 1998 Boeing counted 174 MD-11s delivered, flying for more than 20 operators to over 100 cities. The last MD-11 was delivered in February 2001. Passenger airlines later withdrew it. KLM's last scheduled MD-11 passenger flight, KL672 from Montreal, landed at Amsterdam on October 26, 2014, ending 21 years of MD-11 service at the Dutch airline, which marked the occasion with three farewell flights over the Netherlands on November 11, 2014.
