Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II

The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing version, the first supersonic stealth aircraft that can land vertically, so it can work from amphibious ships, roads and austere bases near the front. A shaft-driven lift fan behind the cockpit and a swiveling nozzle on the Pratt and Whitney F135-PW-600 give 40,500 pounds of thrust in vertical lift mode. Lockheed Martin quotes a top speed of Mach 1.6, more than 900 nautical miles of range and a combat radius above 450 nautical miles on internal fuel, with a 15,000-pound weapons payload. ICAO files it under F35.
