Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor

The F-22A is flown by one pilot. Two Pratt and Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofans, each in the 35,000-pound class and fitted with two-dimensional thrust-vectoring nozzles, let it supercruise, flying faster than Mach 1.5 without afterburner. The Air Force quotes a speed of Mach 2 class, a ceiling above 50,000 feet and a ferry range of more than 1,850 miles, 1,600 nautical miles, with two external wing tanks. In the air-to-air load it carries six AIM-120 and two AIM-9 missiles inside the aircraft. The Air Force declared initial operating capability in December 2005.
