Lockheed C-5 Galaxy
The C-5 Galaxy is the largest aircraft in the US Air Force: a four-engine, high-wing strategic airlifter with a T-tail, built by Lockheed in Georgia. It carries outsize cargo that no other Air Force transport can take, and its nose and aft doors both open so ground crews can load and unload from both ends at once. The first C-5A reached the Air Force in 1970. The surviving C-5A, C-5B and C-5C aircraft were re-engined and modernized into the C-5M Super Galaxy, the only version still flying and the only one listed on this site.
