Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet

The F/A-18E is a single-seat and the F a two-seat multirole attack and fighter aircraft, flown from carriers. Two General Electric F414-GE-400 turbofans of 22,000 pounds of thrust each power it to Mach 1.8 and a ceiling above 50,000 feet. The Navy quotes a combat range of 1,275 nautical miles, clean with two AIM-9 missiles, and a ferry range of 1,660 nautical miles with three 480-gallon tanks, which is the figure used here. First flight was in November 1995, and VFA-115 reached initial operational capability in September 2001. Block III adds a 10,000-hour airframe life.
