Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle
The F-15E Strike Eagle is the dual-role version of the F-15, built to fight to a target over long ranges, destroy ground positions and fight its way out. Two crew fly it, a pilot and a weapon systems officer. Two Pratt and Whitney F100-PW-220 or -229 engines of 25,000 to 29,000 pounds of thrust each, with afterburners, give it a speed above Mach 2.5 and a ceiling of 60,000 feet. The Air Force quotes a ferry range of 2,400 miles with conformal fuel tanks and three external tanks. The first production aircraft reached Luke Air Force Base in April 1988. ICAO files all F-15s under F15.
