Boeing CH-47F Chinook
The CH-47F is the Army's only heavy-lift cargo helicopter, with a digital cockpit, a new monolithic airframe that cuts vibration and a digital automatic flight control system for reduced visibility, brownouts and high winds. A pilot, copilot and flight engineer fly it, and it carries 33 troops or 24 litters. Its sling-load limits are 26,000 pounds on the center hook, 17,000 on the forward or aft hook and 25,000 on the tandem hooks. The Army quotes a maximum gross weight of 50,000 pounds and a maximum cruise speed of 160 knots. Boeing rates the Block II at 54,000 pounds. Length is with the rotors turning.
