Bell Boeing MV-22B Osprey
The MV-22B Osprey is the Marine Corps' medium-lift assault support aircraft, a tiltrotor that replaced the CH-46E Sea Knight. It operates as a helicopter or a turboprop and carries troops, equipment and supplies from ships and land bases. Two Rolls-Royce Liberty AE1107C engines of 6,200 shaft horsepower each sit in nacelles at the wingtips, and two pilots and a crew chief fly it. Naval Air Systems Command gives a maximum gross weight of 60,500 pounds for self-deployment, 57,000 for short takeoff and 52,600 for vertical takeoff. It reached initial operating capability in June 2007. The 83-foot-10-inch span is the overall width with the rotors.
