Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion
The CH-53K King Stallion is the Marine Corps' new-build heavy-lift replacement for the CH-53E, the most powerful helicopter in the Department of Defense, the Navy says. Three General Electric T408-GE-400 engines of 7,332 shaft horsepower each power it. It is designed to carry 27,000 pounds at a mission radius of 110 nautical miles in Navy high and hot conditions, almost triple the baseline of the CH-53E, and to lift 36,000 pounds externally. Its cabin is 12 inches wider and it has fly-by-wire controls. Maximum gross weight is 88,000 pounds with an external load, and initial operating capability came in April 2022.
