Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP

The 172S Skyhawk SP has a fuel-injected Lycoming IO-360-L2A of 180 hp, a maximum takeoff weight of 2,550 pounds and 53 gallons of usable fuel. Its handbook gives a 75 percent power cruise of 124 knots at 8,500 feet and a range of 518 nautical miles with a 45 minute reserve, and a service ceiling of 14,000 feet. Textron Aviation lists a longer range for the same airplane, 640 nautical miles, but that is a ferry figure at 45 percent power, so it is not used here. The 172S is still in production.
