Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker

The KC-135R is the KC-135A re-engined with CFM International CFM56 turbofans of 21,634 pounds of thrust each. The Air Force says the change lets it offload 50 percent more fuel and burn 25 percent less. It carries up to 200,000 pounds of transfer fuel, mostly pumped through the boom, with a drogue for probe-equipped aircraft, and a cargo deck above it for up to 83,000 pounds or 37 passengers. With 150,000 pounds of transfer fuel it flies about 1,500 miles, and on a ferry flight up to 11,015 miles. Its crew is three: pilot, co-pilot and boom operator.
