Boeing 747-400 freighter
The 747-400 freighter was certified by the FAA in October 1993. It has a short upper deck, and its nose swings up so pallets or containers up to 40 feet long can be rolled straight in on powered rollers; an optional side cargo door takes taller loads. The main deck holds twenty-nine 10-foot containers, with more room in the lower holds, and its largest structural payload is about 270,000 pounds. Outside it shares the wing, span and engines of the passenger 747-400.
