Boeing 737-400

The 737-400 is the longest 737 Classic, certified by the FAA in September 1988. It adds 120 inches to the 737-300, a 72-inch section ahead of the wing and a 48-inch one behind, for a length of 119 ft 7 in on the same 94 ft 9 in wing. It uses CFM56-3B2 or CFM56-3C engines. Boeing's two-class layout seats 146, and with its two pairs of overwing exits it is certified for up to 188 passengers. Its heaviest take-off weight is 150,000 pounds. Some have since been converted to freighters: the 737-400 freighters of Aloha Air Cargo have ten main-deck positions for 88 by 125 inch cargo containers.
