Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles Calculator

Unofficial. See the Lotusmiles award miles, tier miles and tier segments a Vietnam Airlines flight earns. Rates as published by Vietnam Airlines.

Vietnam Airlines pays award miles on the distance flown times the rate for your fare family, with a tier bonus on top for Titanium, Gold and Platinum. Choose your airports, connections included.

How this calculator works

Choose your airports and your fare family. The calculator measures each flight's great-circle distance with the same airport data as our Great Circle Distance Calculator and multiplies it by the fare family's rate, which differs for a flight within Vietnam. Tier miles equal the award miles without the tier bonus, and each flight adds tier segments by fare family and distance band. Choose Round trip to count the same flights back the other way, and add the tier miles and tier segments you already have to see how far you are from the next tier.

What the inputs mean

  • Airports: where you fly from, where you fly to, and any connections (add a connection for each extra flight). Each flight earns on its own. A flight with both airports in Vietnam is priced at the domestic rate.
  • Fare family: the family on your ticket, with its booking classes: Business Flex (J, C), Business Classic (D, I), Premium Economy Flex (W), Premium Economy Classic (Z, U), Economy Flex (Y, M, B), Economy Classic (S, H, K, L), Economy Lite (Q, N, R, T, E) and Economy Super Lite (A, P, G). On routes between Vietnam and Europe, Australia, the United States or China, class Q counts as Economy Classic.
  • Your Lotusmiles tier: Titanium members earn a bonus of 30%, Gold 50%, and Platinum and Million Miler 100% on Vietnam Airlines flights. The bonus does not count toward tier miles or tier segments. Silver earns no bonus.
  • Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to Delta SkyMiles, Flying Club or Flying Blue instead of Lotusmiles. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The rates, and how to read them

Vietnam Airlines prints its accrual rates from 26 August 2026 as decimals with no percent sign: Business Flex 2.00, Business Classic 1.50, Premium Economy Flex 1.30, Premium Economy Classic 1.20, Economy Flex 1.10, Economy Classic 0.80 (domestic) or 0.65 (international), Economy Lite 0.60 or 0.25 and Economy Super Lite 0.10. Its terms define miles as the flight distance times the accrual rate, so this calculator reads 2.00 as 200% of the miles flown. Economy Super Lite earns award miles only, with no tier miles or tier segments.

Minimum and rounding

Vietnam Airlines publishes no minimum number of miles per flight, so none is applied. It does not say how it rounds; this calculator drops fractions of a mile on each flight and takes the tier bonus percentage of the miles earned on each flight. Miles are earned on regular purchased tickets on flights with VN flight numbers operated by Vietnam Airlines, not on award tickets or agent-discounted tickets. There is no tier bonus on Garuda Indonesia flights, which this calculator does not price.

Tier miles, tier segments and tiers

A tier needs either tier miles or tier segments within a 12-month qualifying period that starts on the date your card was confirmed: Titanium 15,000 miles or 20 segments, Gold 30,000 or 30, Platinum 50,000 or 50. Members aged 60 and over need 20% less. This calculator takes tier miles as the award miles before any tier bonus, since Vietnam Airlines' terms define qualifying miles as the distance times the accrual rate. Tier miles and segments also come from SkyTeam partner flights, which this calculator does not count. Vietnam Airlines can amend its terms at any time, telling members at least 10 days before a change takes effect.

Example

An Economy Classic ticket from Hanoi to Tokyo Narita (about 2,300 miles) earns 1,495 award miles (2,300 x 65%), 1,495 tier miles and 1.5 tier segments. A Gold member on the same ticket also earns a 50% bonus of 747 miles, for 2,242 award miles and still 1,495 tier miles. The same fare from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi (about 710 miles) is a domestic flight at 80%.
