SriLankan Airlines FlySmiLes Miles Calculator

Unofficial. See the FlySmiLes miles a SriLankan Airlines flight earns. Rates as published by FlySmiLes.

FlySmiLes pays miles on the distance flown times a percentage for your booking class (50% to 225%). Choose your airports, connections included.

How this calculator works

Choose your airports and your booking class. The calculator measures each flight's great-circle distance with the same airport data as our Great Circle Distance Calculator and multiplies it by the percentage FlySmiLes gives your booking class. Choose Round trip to count the same flights back the other way. The calculator is for flights operated by SriLankan Airlines; flights on other oneworld airlines earn by the operating airline's own rules.

What the inputs mean

  • Airports: where you fly from, where you fly to, and any connections (add a connection for each extra flight). Each flight earns on its own.
  • Booking class: the letter on your ticket. Business is J (Flex, 225%), C (Semi Flex, 200%), D (Value, 175%) and I (Saver, 150%). Economy Flex Y, B, P and H earn 150%, Semi Flex K, W, M and E 125%, Value L, R, V and S 100%, Saver N, Q and O 60%, and G 50%. FlySmiLes lists no other classes, so T, U, X, Z, A and F are not offered.
  • Your FlySmiLes tier: Platinum members get a 25% tier bonus and Gold members 15% on flights SriLankan Airlines markets and operates. It is explained below the result but not added, because FlySmiLes does not say what it is a percentage of.
  • Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to American AAdvantage, Atmos Rewards or British Airways Club instead of FlySmiLes. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The full tables: American AAdvantage on SriLankan Airlines, Atmos Rewards on SriLankan Airlines, British Airways Club on SriLankan Airlines.

What is not published

FlySmiLes states no minimum number of miles per flight, so none is applied. It does not say how it measures distance or rounds, so this calculator uses great-circle distances and drops fractions of a mile on each flight. Its own calculator may show slightly different distances. Miles expire after three years, in March and September.

Tiers and Tier Miles

Status comes from Tier Miles or sectors flown on SriLankan Airlines and oneworld member airlines, counted over a rolling 12 months. Classic (oneworld Ruby) needs 20,000 Tier Miles or 20 sectors, Gold (Sapphire) 40,000 or 40, and Platinum (Emerald) 60,000 or 60. To renew, Classic needs 15,000 or 15, Gold 35,000 or 35 and Platinum 55,000 or 55. To qualify, Platinum and Gold members must also fly a minimum on SriLankan itself (30,000 miles or 30 sectors for Platinum, 20,000 or 20 for Gold). Silver is offered only to SriLankan co-branded credit card holders. FlySmiLes publishes no rule for the Tier Miles one flight earns (its official calculator returns them), so this page shows no Tier Miles or progress.

Examples

A 4,000-mile flight earns 9,000 miles in J (4,000 x 225%), 6,000 in Y (x 150%), 5,000 in K (x 125%), 4,000 in L (x 100%), 2,400 in N (x 60%) and 2,000 in G (x 50%). A 200-mile flight in L earns 200 miles, because FlySmiLes states no minimum.
