Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus Miles Calculator

Unofficial. See the Royal Orchid Plus miles and Qualifying Miles a Thai Airways flight earns. Rates as published by Thai Airways.

Thai Airways pays miles on the distance flown times a percentage for your booking class (25% to 250%), with a 500-mile minimum on each THAI flight. Choose your airports, connections included.

How this calculator works

Choose your airports and your booking class. The calculator measures each flight's great-circle distance with the same airport data as our Great Circle Distance Calculator and multiplies it by the class percentage. If that comes to less than 500, the flight earns 500 miles. Choose Round trip to count the same flights back the other way, and add the Qualifying Miles you already have to see how far you are from Silver and Gold. The calculator is for flights operated by Thai Airways; flights on other Star Alliance airlines earn by the operating airline's paid booking class.

What the inputs mean

  • Airports: where you fly from, where you fly to, and any connections (add a connection for each extra flight). Each flight earns on its own. Thai Airways credits a change of flight number as a new flight; a continuing flight number counts from the first airport to the last.
  • Booking class: the letter on your ticket. Royal First (F, P) earns 250% and 200%, Royal Silk (C, D, J, Z) 150% and 125%, Premium Economy (A, U) 110%, and Economy from 110% (Y, B, M) down to 25% (W). Classes L, O, I, X, E, N and R earn no miles. Class A is Premium Economy on flights flown on or after 1 July 2026 (before that it was First).
  • Your Royal Orchid Plus tier: Silver, Gold and Platinum get a tier status bonus of 5%, 10% and 20% on THAI international flights. It is explained below the result but not added.
  • Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to United MileagePlus or Aeroplan instead of Royal Orchid Plus. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The full tables: United MileagePlus on Thai Airways International, Aeroplan on THAI.

Minimums and Qualifying Miles

Every THAI flight in an eligible class earns at least 500 miles, however short it is. Qualifying Miles are the actual miles flown plus the class bonus; the tier bonus, promotional miles and partner miles are excluded. This calculator counts them as distance times the class percentage, without the 500-mile minimum, because Thai Airways does not say how the minimum counts. Thai Airways prints distances only from Bangkok, so the calculator uses great-circle distances everywhere; for the pairs Thai lists they are within about 1.5%. Thai Airways does not publish its rounding; this calculator drops fractions of a mile on each flight.

Tiers

Silver needs 10,000 Qualifying Miles in 12 months or 15,000 in 24 months. Gold needs 50,000 in 12 months, 80,000 in 24 months, or 40 international THAI sectors in 12 months (flights in classes T, K, S, G, V, W and L do not count as sectors). Platinum needs 80,000 miles on THAI Royal First or Royal Silk in each of 2 consecutive 12-month periods, so the progress bars here stop at Gold.

A note on classes T and V

Thai Airways' earning table gives T 100% and V 75%, and its Mileage Accumulation Rules page agrees for K, S, V, G and W. One line of text under the table says T earns 75% and V 25%; this calculator follows the table and the rules page.

Examples

Bangkok to London is 5,928 miles on Thai Airways' chart. In Economy class Y or M it earns 5,928 x 110% = 6,520 miles; in Royal Silk class C, 5,928 x 150% = 8,892 miles; in Economy class K, 5,928 x 75% = 4,446 miles. Bangkok to Ho Chi Minh City is 453 miles, so a ticket in M (453 x 110% = 498) earns the 500-mile minimum.
