Qantas Points and Status Credits Calculator
Unofficial. See the Qantas Points and Status Credits a Qantas flight earns. Rates as published by Qantas.
Qantas pays a fixed number of Qantas Points and Status Credits per flight, set by the route (or its distance band) and the earn category of your fare, not by the price. Choose your airports, connections included, and the calculator finds each flight's table.
How this calculator works
Choose your airports and the earn category of your fare. Each Qantas flight earns on its own: the calculator measures its great-circle distance with the same airport data as our Great Circle Distance Calculator, then looks it up in Qantas's earning tables. Flights within Australia use the domestic table; routes Qantas lists by name (Sydney to Auckland, Sydney to Dallas, Perth to Johannesburg and so on) use their own route table, as do routes to Europe and Asia found from the airports' countries; every other route earns by distance band. Your Status Bonus is added to the points, and a flight below Qantas's Minimum Points Guarantee is topped up to it. Choose Round trip to count the same flights back the other way, and add the Status Credits you already have to see how far you are from the next tier.
What the inputs mean
- Airports: where you fly from, where you fly to, and any connections (add a connection for each extra flight).
- Route table: Qantas names some routes by region (for example Australia to Europe or Asia, or New Zealand to the US East Coast) without saying which countries each region holds. The calculator picks the Europe and Asia tables from the airports' countries (European countries; Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and Southeast Asia) and names the table and the reason in the result; you can change it, or choose the distance band, in the box under the airports. For the USA and Canada, choose the East or West Coast there yourself.
- Earn category: the fare type on your ticket, from Discount Economy to First. The booking class letters under each button are Qantas's: international first, then domestic (dom.). On flights within Australia class I is Business, K is Flexible Economy, and there is no Discount Business.
- Your tier: the Status Bonus adds 50% more points for Silver, 75% for Gold and 100% for Platinum and Platinum One. It never adds Status Credits.
- Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to American AAdvantage, Atmos Rewards, Flying Blue or British Airways Club instead of Qantas Frequent Flyer. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The full tables: American AAdvantage on Qantas, Atmos Rewards on Qantas, Flying Blue on Qantas, British Airways Club on Qantas.
Distance bands
Within Australia: 0 to 750 miles, 751 to 1,500 and 1,501 and over. Elsewhere, for routes without their own table: 0 to 750 miles, 751 to 1,500, 1,501 to 2,500, 2,501 to 3,500, 3,501 to 5,000, 5,001 to 6,500, and 6,500 and over. Qantas does not say how it measures the distance; this calculator uses the great-circle distance, so a flight within a few miles of a band edge can land on either side, and the calculator says when a flight is that close.
Tiers
Silver needs 300 Status Credits in your Membership Year (250 to keep it), Gold 700 (600 to keep), Platinum 1,400 (1,200 to keep) and Platinum One 3,600 to reach and keep, at least 2,700 of them on flights with a QF flight number. Silver, Gold and Platinum also need at least four flights with a QF or Jetstar flight number that earn Status Credits. Lifetime Silver comes at 7,000 Status Credits, Lifetime Gold at 14,000 and Lifetime Platinum at 75,000. Qantas has announced changes from 8 December 2026 and in 2027; see the Qantas fare chart.
Examples
Sydney to Melbourne in Economy earns 500 base points, topped up to the 800-point minimum, and 10 Status Credits. Sydney to Dallas in First earns 19,600 points and 300 Status Credits. Sydney to London on the East Coast USA/Canada or Europe table earns 9,300 points and 95 Status Credits in Economy; a Gold member adds 6,975 bonus points.
