China Eastern Eastern Miles Calculator
Unofficial. See the Eastern Miles a China Eastern flight earns on the fare you paid. Rules as published by China Eastern.
China Eastern pays Eastern Miles on the ticket price including the YQ fuel surcharge, in yuan, multiplied by a coefficient that depends on your member level and on whether you bought through China Eastern's own app, website or 95530 or through another channel.
How this calculator works
Enter the fare plus fuel surcharge you paid for the whole ticket in yuan, then pick your Eastern Miles level and where the ticket was sold. The calculator multiplies the amount by the coefficient and rounds down to whole miles. The result updates as you change an answer.
What the inputs mean
- Fare plus YQ: the ticket price including the YQ fuel surcharge, in yuan, for flights operated by China Eastern (MU), Shanghai Airlines (FM) or China United (KN). China Eastern's rules give their thresholds in yuan and do not say how a ticket in another currency is converted, so enter the yuan amount.
- Level: 1 to 6 star member, or the Silver, Gold or Platinum card (SkyTeam Elite for Silver, Elite Plus for Gold and Platinum), at the time the flight operates.
- Where the ticket was sold: the China Eastern app, website or 95530 earn a higher coefficient than any other channel.
- Spend so far: optional, used only for the progress toward the next level.
- Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to Delta SkyMiles, Flying Club or Flying Blue instead of Eastern Miles. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. How Eastern Miles and levels are earned
Since 1 September 2021, China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China United flights earn by price, not by distance or booking class. Reward tickets in class A, O or X, infant tickets, tickets with IT in the fare box, rebooking fees, add-ons such as insurance and preferred seats, and charter flights earn nothing. China Eastern uses the actual fare for tickets on 781 and 822 ticket stock and an average fare level it computes for other stock. The rules print no minimum per flight and no rounding rule, so this calculator applies no minimum and rounds down.
A level needs annual spend (fare plus YQ over 12 consecutive months) plus either qualifying segments or qualifying kilometres: 2-star 3,000 yuan and 3 segments or 4,500 km, 3-star 5,500 and 5 or 6,500, 4-star 8,500 and 7 or 8,500, 5-star 12,000 and 9 or 10,500, 6-star 16,000 and 11 or 12,500, Silver card 20,000 and 13 or 15,000, Gold card 40,000 and 25 or 25,000, Platinum card 100,000 and 45 or 55,000. This calculator counts only the spend. The China Eastern chart lists the coefficients, the thresholds and the partner-flight table.
Example
A 3-star member who buys a ticket for 10,000 yuan on the China Eastern app earns 10,000 x 0.66 = 6,600 Eastern Miles. Bought through a travel agent, the same ticket earns 10,000 x 0.6 = 6,000. A Platinum card member on the same app ticket earns 10,000 x 1.232 = 12,320.
What it does not cover
Flights with a China Eastern or Shanghai Airlines code operated by a SkyTeam partner, Japan Airlines, Qantas or Etihad earn by distance and booking class, and flights operated by a partner under its own code earn by the partner programme's rules. Qualifying segments and kilometres, which levels also require, are not counted here. China Eastern publishes these rules in Chinese: see its earning rules and member levels.
