Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and Status Points Calculator

Unofficial. See the Asia Miles and Status Points a Cathay Pacific flight earns. Earning table as published by Cathay Pacific.

Cathay Pacific pays by distance zone, booking class and fare type, the same for every membership status. Pick the two airports and the calculator finds the zone, including the Type 2 rule for short flights to or from Japan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and India.

How this calculator works

Choose the airport you fly from and the airport you fly to. The calculator measures the great-circle distance between them with the same airport data as our Great Circle Distance Calculator, works out Cathay Pacific's distance zone and looks up the Asia Miles and Status Points for your booking class and fare type. Choose Round trip to count the flight both ways. Add the Status Points you already have to see how far you are from the next tier.

Each flight (sector) earns on its own. For a connection, such as New York to Singapore through Hong Kong, work out each flight separately.

What the inputs mean

  • From and To: the two airports of one Cathay Pacific flight. You can also type the flight distance in miles yourself.
  • Type 2 countries: a short flight (751 to 2,750 miles) to or from Japan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh or India is "Type 2" and earns more than other short flights. The calculator sets this from the airports you choose.
  • Booking class: the letter on your ticket. First is F and A; Business is J and C (Flex), D and P (Essential) and I (Light); Premium Economy is W and R (Flex) and E (Essential).
  • Economy fare type: Economy classes (Y, B, H, K, M, L, V, S, N, Q, O) are sold as Light, Essential or Flex, and each earns differently. Your booking shows which one you bought.
  • Your Cathay status: used only for the progress toward the next tier. Status does not change what a flight earns.
  • Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to American AAdvantage, Atmos Rewards or British Airways Club instead of Cathay. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The full tables: American AAdvantage on Cathay Pacific, Atmos Rewards on Cathay Pacific, British Airways Club on Cathay Pacific.

Distance zones

Ultra-short is 1 to 750 miles, Short is 751 to 2,750 miles (Type 1 or Type 2), Medium is 2,751 to 5,000 miles, Long is 5,001 to 7,500 miles and Ultra-long is 7,501 miles or more. Cathay Pacific measures the distance it flies, which can differ from the great-circle distance by a few miles. When a flight is close to a zone edge the calculator says so; check those flights with Cathay's official miles and points calculator.

Status

For the 2026 membership year Silver needs 300 Status Points, Gold 600 and Diamond 1,200, plus at least one eligible Cathay Pacific flight. Green is the joining status. From January 1, 2027 Status Points count by calendar year and no longer reset on an upgrade; the thresholds stay at 300, 600 and 1,200, Diamond Exec is added at 2,400, and Diamond Plus is by invitation.

Partner flights

This calculator covers flights marketed by Cathay Pacific. Flights marketed by oneworld and other partner airlines earn on different charts, so use the official calculator for those.

Example

Hong Kong to Tokyo Narita is about 1,800 miles, a Short Type 2 flight because Japan is at one end. In Economy class Y on a Flex fare it earns 3,500 Asia Miles and 35 Status Points. Hong Kong to London in Business class J is a Long flight and earns 13,000 Asia Miles and 130 Status Points.
