ITA Airways Miles & More Calculator

Unofficial. See the Miles & More miles, Points and Qualifying Points an ITA Airways flight earns. Rates as published by Miles & More.

ITA Airways flights earn in Miles & More, the Lufthansa Group program: ITA's own program, Volare, ended on 30 March 2026, and ITA joined Star Alliance on 1 April 2026. By booking class, flights within Europe earn a fixed number of miles, and Worldwide flights earn the distance times your class's rate, with a minimum. Every flight also earns Points and Qualifying Points by cabin. Choose your airports, connections included.

How this calculator works

Choose your airports and your booking class. The calculator looks up each flight's countries and great-circle distance with the same airport data as our Great Circle Distance Calculator. A flight with both airports in one European country (Rome to Milan, for example) earns the European Domestic miles for its class; a flight between two European countries earns the European Cross-Border miles; any other flight earns the Worldwide rate: the distance times the class rate, or the class minimum if that is more. Choose Round trip to count the same flights back the other way, and add the Points you already have this year to see how far you are from the next status.

Which tickets this covers

Miles & More says the miles for an ITA Airways flight depend on how you book: by the ticket price (including airline surcharges) or by the booking class. Its ITA page prints the booking-class tables, which this calculator uses, for flights operated by ITA Airways. Miles & More does not state which bookings earn by price.

What the inputs mean

  • Airports: where you fly from, where you fly to, and any connections (add a connection for each extra flight). Each flight earns on its own.
  • Booking class: the letter on your ticket. Business is C, D, J, Z and P, Premium Economy E, G and N, and the rest Economy. A, F, I, O, R and X earn no miles and no Points.
  • Your Miles & More status: used for the progress toward the next status. Miles & More says Frequent Travellers, Senators and HON Circle Members get up to 50% more miles on ITA Airways, but does not publish how much on which fare, so it is not added.
  • Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to United MileagePlus or Aeroplan instead of Miles & More. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The full tables: United MileagePlus on ITA Airways, Aeroplan on ITA Airways.
  • Turkey, Cyprus, the Caucasus, Kazakhstan and Russia: these countries lie on two continents and Miles & More does not say which one it counts. The question appears when a flight touches one of them; Europe makes the flight earn the fixed European miles, Asia makes it earn by distance.

Miles within Europe and Worldwide

European Domestic (within one European country): 1,500 miles in C, D and J, 1,000 in Z, 500 in P, 1,000 in B and Y, 500 in H, M and U, 250 in Q, S, V and W, 125 in K, L and T. European Cross-Border (between European countries): 2,000 in C, D and J, 1,250 in Z, 750 in P, 1,250 in B, M and Y, 750 in H, Q, U and V, 500 in S and W, 125 in K, L and T. Miles & More lists the Premium Economy classes E, G and N only for Worldwide flights. Worldwide: 200% of the distance in C, D and J (at least 1,000), 150% in Z, E, G, B and Y (at least 750), 100% in P, N, H, M and U (at least 500), 50% in Q, S, V and W (at least 250) and 25% in K, L and T (at least 250). Miles & More counts Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia as Europe for Points; this calculator uses the same Europe for the miles. It drops fractions of a mile on each flight.

Points and status

Each flight segment earns Points and the same number of Qualifying Points by cabin: Economy 20 on a continental flight (both airports on the same continent, domestic included) and 60 on an intercontinental one, Premium Economy 20 and 80, Business 40 and 200. Business also earns the same number of HON Circle Points. Points are credited only when miles are. In a calendar year, Frequent Traveller needs 650 Points and 325 Qualifying Points, Senator 2,000 Points and 1,000 Qualifying Points, and HON Circle 6,000 HON Circle Points.

Examples

Worked from the Miles & More tables (it prints no examples for ITA). In M, Catania to Rome earns the fixed 500 European Domestic miles and Rome to New York (about 4,266 miles) earns 4,266, so the trip earns about 4,766 miles and 80 Points (20 + 60). Rome to Paris in M earns the fixed 1,250 European Cross-Border miles and 20 Points. Rome to Tokyo in J (about 6,155 miles) earns 200% of the distance, about 12,310 miles, plus 200 Points, 200 Qualifying Points and 200 HON Circle Points.
