Avianca LifeMiles Calculator

Unofficial. See the LifeMiles and qualifying miles an Avianca flight earns on the fare you paid. Rules as published by Avianca.

Avianca pays LifeMiles for each US dollar of fare, without taxes, fees and extras: 3 on Basic and Light, 6 on Classic, 8 on Flex and 10 in Business. Elite members add a bonus of 10% (Red Plus) to 100% (Magno) of those base miles.

How this calculator works

Enter the fare you paid for the whole ticket in US dollars, then pick the fare family and your LifeMiles Elite status. The calculator multiplies the fare by the fare family's rate and adds your Elite bonus. The result updates as you change an answer.

What the inputs mean

  • Fare paid: the fare for the whole ticket without taxes, fees or additional services such as bags and seats. Avianca prints its rates per US dollar and does not say how a fare in another currency is converted, so enter the US dollar amount.
  • Fare family: Basic (domestic flights) and Light (international flights) earn 3 per dollar, Classic 6, Flex 8, and Business Classic, Business Flex and INSIGNIA Business to Europe 10. Avianca does not publish booking class letters.
  • Elite status: Red Plus, Silver, Gold, Diamond or Magno at the time of flying. The bonus is a percentage of the base miles.
  • Qualifying miles so far: optional, used only for the progress toward the next status.
  • Credit this flight to: you can credit the flight to United MileagePlus or Aeroplan instead of LifeMiles. Choose one to see what the flight earns there, by route and booking class, with your status in that program. The full tables: United MileagePlus on Avianca, Aeroplan on Avianca.

How LifeMiles and Elite status are earned

Miles accrue only when Avianca operates the flight and your LifeMiles number is on the booking. Neither Avianca's fare page nor the LifeMiles terms give a minimum per flight or a rounding rule, so this calculator applies no minimum and rounds down to whole miles.

Elite status is earned between 1 January and 31 December. You need both qualifying miles and miles flown with Avianca: Red Plus 6,000 and 1,000, Silver 12,000 and 3,000, Gold 24,000 and 12,000, Diamond 45,000 and 22,500, Magno 110,000 and 110,000. You earn 1 qualifying mile for every mile earned on Avianca and GOL flights, 1 for every 2 miles earned on Star Alliance flights, and 1 for every 20 miles earned through Elite bonuses. The Avianca fare chart lists the fare families.

Example

A Gold member who pays $1,000 for a Classic fare earns 6,000 base LifeMiles plus a 60% bonus of 3,600, for 9,600 LifeMiles. The qualifying miles are 6,000 plus 180 for the bonus, 6,180.

What it does not cover

Award tickets and unpublished or discounted tickets such as student fares earn nothing under the LifeMiles terms. Flights operated by other airlines, including Star Alliance partners, earn by their own tables. Miles flown with Avianca, which Elite status also requires, are not counted here. Avianca's fare page and the LifeMiles terms cover the rest.
