How Atmos Rewards Points Are Earned

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines use a fare-based earning structure. Points are earned based on the base fare paid (before taxes and fees) at a rate of 5 points per $1, plus any elite status bonus. Atmos Rewards cardholders earn an additional 3 points per $1 on Alaska and Hawaiian purchases.

How to Read This Chart

Each row represents one Alaska Airlines fare class (booking code). Key columns explained:

  • Fare — The single-letter booking code that appears on your ticket or reservation.
  • Class / Cabin — Whether the fare is in First Class or Economy.
  • Rank — Priority order within the fare class hierarchy (lower = higher priority).
  • UWP (Upgrade Waitlist Priority) — Your position on the complimentary upgrade waitlist. Lower numbers are upgraded first.
  • Base / Bonus / Total Points — Percentage of distance-based miles earned. For fare-paid earning, all fares earn 5 pts/$1 regardless of fare class.
  • Status Points — Percentage of distance-based status points earned for that fare class.
  • Instant Upg. — Whether the fare is eligible for instant (confirmed) upgrades at booking for Atmos Silver, Gold, or Platinum/Titanium members.

Good to Know

  • In 2026, Alaska Airlines rebranded Mileage Plan to Atmos Rewards. Status tiers were renamed: MVP is now Atmos Silver, MVP Gold is now Atmos Gold, MVP Gold 75K is now Atmos Platinum, and MVP Gold 100K is now Atmos Titanium.
  • Each Atmos tier maps to a oneworld alliance level: Silver = oneworld Ruby, Gold = oneworld Sapphire, Platinum and Titanium = oneworld Emerald.
  • Hawaiian Airlines is now part of the Alaska Airlines family. Both carriers follow the same Atmos Rewards earning structure and share elite benefits.
  • Points are earned on the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges. Government taxes and fees do not earn points.
  • Later in 2026, Alaska will introduce "choice-earn" allowing members to choose between earning by distance (1 mile = 1 point), fare paid ($1 = 5 points), or segments (500 points per segment).
  • Atmos Rewards cardholders earn +3 points per $1 on Alaska and Hawaiian purchases, plus a free checked bag and companion fare (Ascent/Business) or Alaska Lounge passes (Summit).
  • Upgrade waitlist priority is: Y, B, H, K, M, L, V, S, N, Q, O, G, X. Economy fares are eligible for complimentary upgrades at 48 hours (Silver), 72 hours (Gold), or 120 hours (Platinum/Titanium) before departure.
  • Award tickets (fare classes E, P, T, U, W, Z) do not earn base points. However, under the future choice-earn model, award travel will earn status points based on the selected earn method.
  • When you earn enough status points to qualify for a tier, your status is reflected within 24 hours and is effective through the next full calendar year plus one month.
